TEC Extends PON MTCTE Exemptions Till Dec 2026

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) has extended the acceptance of ExemptionsTest Reports, and Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) for the specified test parameters under the Essential Requirements (ERs) of the PON Family of Broadband Equipment under the MTCTE scheme.. 

Key updates effective until 31 December 2026: 

  • Protocol Test for any PON Interface: Test reports for protocol testing, as specified in the Essential Requirements (ER), are exempted from submission until 31.12.2026. 
  • Automatic Laser Shut-Down (ALS) / Automatic Power Shut-Down (APSD): For compliance with ITU-T G.664IEC 60825, and Annex-A1, a Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) by the Applicant/OEM will continue to be accepted until 31.12.2026. 

This extension provides continued regulatory flexibility while supporting the deployment of broadband infrastructure and enabling smoother product certifications under the MTCTE regime.
