Cambodia’s MPTC and TRC have released draft regulations covering technical standards, type approval, and conformity assessment for telecom equipment. Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback until 25 May 2026 before finalisation. 

Key Highlights 

  • TRC Type Approval Certificate mandatory for telecom equipment
  • Applies to importers, distributors, suppliers, and users
  • Equipment classified based on risk:  
  • Type A: Low risk (e.g., RFID, WLAN, Bluetooth)  
  • Type B: Medium risk (e.g., data communication devices)  
  • Type C: High risk (e.g., UWB, crane controls)  

Compliance Requirements 

  • TRC label + Qualified Agent code (QA-YYYY-XXXX) required  
  • Certificate validity: 5 years  
  • Renewal: Renewal application required at least 30 days before expiry  
  • Transition: Existing agents must align with new rules  

Scope & Implementation 

  • Covers SRD, WLAN, Bluetooth, IoT, UWB, and wired telecom equipment
  • Focus on EMC, network integrity, and user safety
  • Expected to come into force 6 months after signing
