The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has extended the implementation timeline for mandatory compliance of Television Sets under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 (CRO).
As per the latest notification dated 26 July 2026, the compliance deadline for television sets covered under IS 18112:2022, Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission, has been extended from 26 July 2026 to 26 January 2027.
The extension provides additional time for manufacturers, importers, and testing laboratories to complete product testing, certification, and registration activities under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS).
The extension does not change the compliance requirements under IS 18112:2022. Instead, it provides a longer transition period for stakeholders to ensure conformity and obtain the necessary BIS registrations.
Conclusion
With this latest extension, MeitY continues its balanced approach of strengthening product quality standards while providing the industry with adequate time for compliance. Television manufacturers and importers now have until 26 January 2027 to align their products with IS 18112:2022 and complete the BIS registration process before the requirement becomes mandatory.
