This is to notify you that the Standards and Labelling Program for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps has been discontinued with effect from 1 July 2026.
Accordingly, the BEE Standards & Labelling/Star Labelling requirements for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps are no longer applicable from 1 July 2026. Any actions or omissions relating to the period prior to this date remain unaffected.
The decision to discontinue TFL from the BEE scheme has not been officially communicated. However, factors such as outdated technology and declining market relevance could be among the possible reasons, as the lighting industry has largely transitioned toward more energy-efficient, safer, environmentally friendly, and technologically advanced lighting solutions.
For manufacturers, this discontinuation applies to the BEE Standards & Labelling requirement only and does not prohibit the manufacture or production of Tubular Fluorescent Lamps. Manufacturers should continue to comply with any other applicable regulatory requirements.
