Product Cut-Off & Existing Stock
One of the key provisions of the QCO relates to products manufactured in India or imported before the applicable implementation date.
Where the manufacturer is already BIS-certified or has applied to BIS for certification of the relevant products, such declared pre-implementation stock may be sold, displayed or offered for sale for up to six months from the applicable implementation date, subject to making the required declaration to BIS.
What does this mean for manufacturers?
The relevant manufacturing/import date of existing stock becomes important. Manufacturers should therefore assess their inventory, product range, and BIS certification status well before the applicable date to avoid compliance-related disruptions.
If your electrical appliances fall within the scope of this QCO, now is the right time to initiate the BIS certification process and ensure that testing, documentation, and factory requirements are completed in advance.
