The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has issued important notifications or all Manufacturers and Permittees of Self-Ballasted LED Lamps. The key updates under the BEE Standards & Labelling (S&L) Program are outlined below:
The existing LED lamp Star Rating Table has been upgraded by 1 Star level, with a validity period of 2 years, i.e., from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.
Note: LED lamps that are 1 star as per the old star rating table will be obsolete.
- All existing star-labelled LED lamp models under the current standards will expire on 31 December 2026.
- All registered models must comply with the revised IS 16102 (Part 2) standard and revised Star Rating criteria with effect from 1 January 2027.
- Existing models intended for continuation must obtain approval on or before 31 December 2026. The “Continuation” option on the BEE S&L Portal will be available from 1 October 2026.
Note for the manufacturers: Manufacturers are requested to take the necessary action well in advance to ensure timely compliance and avoid the expiry of existing models.
